FAQs

How do I choose the right course for me?

As the name suggests, I Teach IELTS in London specialises in preparing candidates for the Academic and General versions of the IELTS exam, one of the world’s most popular qualifications for studying at university or obtaining a visa for living and working in an English-speaking country.

However, IELTS preparation is only one of the services on offer. Students who want to improve their general or business English, or businesses looking for help with producing web copy, publicity and other materials to the highest standards of accuracy, can choose from a wide range of options to suit their needs.

Candidates for other exams such as the B2 First, C1 Advanced and the PTE Academic, are also recommended to get in touch.

What happens in the free introductory class?

The first one-hour consultation is free of charge to the student. In this session, your grammar and vocabulary levels will be assessed in a multiple choice test. Your fluency and accuracy of speaking and listening will also be evaluated.

Then you and the teacher will decide a programme of study based on your needs and objectives.

How many hours of lessons do I need to take per week?

That’s up to you: it depends on your needs and objectives. You can benefit from an hour a week or a more intensive course.

If you need IELTS to go to university and you start from around Band 4 on the IELTS scale you will probably require regular classes over several months. This is because the exam is not easy and most UK universities want candidates to have reached at least upper intermediate level before they will accept them onto degree courses.

Typically, students require less time to prepare for the General than the Academic version of IELTS, but it all depends on the Band score required.

What is the cost of my English course?

I Teach IELTS in London specialises in one to one courses. However, group classes can also be arranged, provided that all participants are of the same ability level. Mixed ability classes are not available.

One to one courses are priced on an hourly basis and prices start at £20/hour.

How do I make a booking for my English course?

Please fill in the enquiry form on the Contact page or email iteachieltsinlondon@gmail.com.

Classes are available from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

What happens if I cannot come to a class and need to cancel?

If you cancel a class with at least 24 hours’ notice, I Teach IELTS in London will reschedule the class free of charge.

If, however, you give less than 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation – for any reason – then the class will not be rescheduled and the fee for that class will not be refunded.

I have taken IELTS already and did not get the Band Score I needed. What do I do now?

Don’t panic! That’s what I Teach IELTS in London is here to help with! Remember, there are regular test dates throughout the year so, if you need to do the exam again, you can plan the next attempt with your teacher, to give yourself the best opportunity of achieving the result you want.
